Enable Holidays offer a carefully selected, personally audited range of overseas holidays for disabled people, their families and friends. This website features a good choice of fully audited holiday accommodation in Florida, Spain, Majorca, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Cyprus, Greek Islands, Malta, Egypt, Czech Republic and Belgium; plus city breaks in Barcelona, Prague, Brussels and Athens.
Each property has undergone a thorough 150-point auditing process (endorsed by Scope and the National Accessible Scheme).
Access at last
I have found a great new website for people with various mobility problems who want to go on holiday in Europe, the USA or Thailand. The company is called Access at Last and it only includes accommodation that has at least 1 wheelchair accessible room, whether it is half board, full board or self catering. Includes a selection of rental properties too.
Access Travel
This company has been going for a long time, and specialises in holidays for disabled people, in particular wheelchair users. They go to a wide variety of european countries as well as further afield.
Can Be Done
Can be done has been operating as a tour company for around 20 years and offers a great variety of different countries. You can search the site specifying your own particular needs and it will return suitable properties and destinations. There is such a huge variety of destinations and types of holidays, including cruises. Its a brilliant site.
Accessible Travel
Another great company offering holidays to disabled customers, and they take care of everything for you. You can hire equipment, and you have peace of mind knowing that you will end up somewhere that has been checked out for you in advance.
Wings on wheels
This company is different to the other ones as it offers escorted holidays. It is run by a couple who have a good background in working in the tourist industry. The company has been going since 1997. They organise small group holidays and also family holidays for disabled people. A member of staff goes on each holiday to oversee the whole thing and to help out if any problem arises. All accommodation and holidays have been verified for accessibility beforehand.
Tregoose lets
This is a small company based in Portugal, with holiday accommodation there and in Cornwall. They have 2 wheelchair accessible apartments in the Algarve, and one in Cornwall. They also have a wheelchair accessible vehicle that comes free with the property in Portugal. They are very friendly and helpful and can put you in touch with local suppliers of rentable equipment such as wheelchairs etc. We have been and found the whole place to be very wheelchair friendly. The owners live on site too which is a great help.
Net Buddys
This useful guide gives lots of information and tips on holidaying with someone with a disability, plus they have a list of tested places both in the UK and abroad.
